InkTec obtained the record-high revenues last year with 5.2 billion won of operating profit … up 55%↑ from last year Aiming at 72 billion won of revenue this year with 30 billion won or more from new businesses InkTec(CEO Gwang-Chun Jeong, www.inktec.com), the professional parts and materials manufacturer, announced on January 28th that it earned the revenue of 48.7 billion won, operating profit of 5.2 billion won and net profit of 3.8 billion won last year, up 31%, 55%, and 196%, respectively, from last year. The company successfully went into the black while creating the record-high corporate revenue, operating profit and net profit as well. InkTec explained "A stable growth in revenue of existing businesses and a new revenue source from new printed electronics business and UV inkjet hardening printer have contributed to the unprecedented increase in revenues and profits”. The printed electronics business division has finally earned its recognition for the stability of mass-produced products and pushed revenue up whopping 600% from last year and the UV inkjet hardening printer that was first introduced to the market in the 3/4 quarter last year made a smooth market entry into the global market starting from Europe and Australia. InkTec forecasts that it will earn 30 billion won or more of revenue from new businesses and has set the revenue target at 72 billion won or more. Above all, a full-scale revenue growth is expected from printed electronics business division. In particular, the company is seeking to expand the application of the reflective film for mobile phone to large monitors and TVs as well. In addition, the company expects favorable prospects of solidifying its position in the IT optical film market this year as the electromagnetic waves shielding film that was co-developed based on electronic ink technologies together with the SD FLEX, the joint venture of Jeil Industries and DuPont, is expected to start generating revenue after the second quarter of this year. In particular, an official of InkTec explains “the recent surge of smart phone market and the expectation of rapid growth in touch screen panel market with the introduction of Windows 7 is expected to contribute to a sharp expansion in supply of silver(Ag) paste ink of InkTec for touch screen panels that can replace the electronic materials for touch screen panels that used to be dominated by Japanese companies and we expect sustainable growth in new businesses in the future by 100% or more”.

Based on this agreement, both companies are expected to co-develop and mass-produce electromagnetic waves shielding films to be applied to a wide range of domestic as well as oversees electric appliances of distinguished appliance manufactures home and abroad sometime in the first half of this year. The electromagnetic waves shielding film is intended to prevent the malfunctioning of the electric appliances caused by interferences of electromagnetic waves among internal parts and materials for the optimal performance and to protect humans from the harmful electromagnetic waves. The delivery is especially meaningful in that the company has made a successful penetration into the Chinese market of electronic materials for touch screen panels that used to be dominated by Japanese corporations by defeating Japanese counterparts. InkTec, Won the ‘King Sejong Patented Technology Prize’ - InkTec ‘Transparent Electronic Ink’ won the highest patented technology    prize awarded by the Korean Intellectual Property Office InkTec, the professional parts and materials manufacturer received the King Sejong Patented Technology Prize, the grand prize in patented technology sector of the second half of 2009 awarded by the Korean Intellectual Property Office. InkTec(CEO Gwang-Chun Jeong) announced on 11th that its internally developed ‘Transparent Electronic Ink Manufacturing Technology and Methods of Establishing Thin Film Thereof based on the Technology’ received the King Sejong Prize, the grand prize of the ‘2009 Second Half Patented Technology Awards’ hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office on December 10. This prize is especially meaningful to InkTec in that the company has been recognized for its future values as the prize is granted to the most outstanding technology in terms of technical competence, industrial utilization, and economic efficiency among business to which registration, utility model, design registration or license is tied to. InkTec has applied the registration of additional 100 or more technical patents since the successful registration of the first patent in 2007, including 33 domestic patents (20 registered) and 18 international patents (PCT) and 60 overseas patents through a variety of application products in the ongoing process of technical development. Unlike the Nano Ink of advanced countries that is designed to split the minute particles through nano technologies, the Transparent Electronic Ink developed by InkTec features absence of particles themselves as the silver(Ag) is completely dissolved in the ink, which greatly enhances the stability of warehousing as it does not have the problem of sediment accumulated with a long-term preservation, which is frequently seen in the conventional nano ink. Most of all, it is possible to create materials at temperature of 130℃ or lower, which is much lower than that for traditional nano ink and thus to make them applicable to flexible items such as plastic film or paper, for which traditional nono ink was not able to be used. In addition, the ability of enabling to establish uniform and elaborate thin films or patterns facilitates to manufacture parts and components that require minute patterns. Also, the technology features lower manufacturing costs than those for nano ink and the capability of implementing the high degree of conduction with less amount of thin films, creating a substantial cost reduction effect. This is why it is used as one of the core parts of the printing process-based industry, which attracts a lot of attention as a new paradigm of the electric and electronic parts industry and also is expected to be applied to a wide range of products that require the competitive price, mass production and environment-friendly engineering of the core IT sector in the future.
